WHAT IS PROOFREADING?
The essence of proofreading is the reading of a document or piece of text in order to identify and correct any errors. The errors can be within the text or within tables, images or other graphics, all of which will be reviewed by the proofreader. Proofreading should identify grammatical errors, spelling mistakes and any other flaws in the text. It should also pick up on any areas where the text contradicts itself or states facts that are untrue or incorrect.
Proofreading services are an essential part of the Tomedes translation service. We take great care to ensure that our clients are provided with perfect translations, which are both accurate and contextually sympathetic. By proofreading the documents that we have translated, we provide an extra round of checks before the work is handed over to the client. This is one way in which we ensure the high quality of all of the jobs that we undertake.
Proofreading and translation are clearly separate skills, but we find that many of our translators enjoy doing both, as their love of languages makes them suited to a number of linguistic tasks. In order to best meet our clients’ needs, Tomedes offers proofreading as a separate service – you don’t need to have translated a document with us in order to use our proofreading service.
For a free proofreading quotation, please contact us with the details of your document, including the number of words and the language in which it is written. We will quickly provide you with an estimate for the job, based on our extremely reasonable rates.
